About 15,000 people have been deprived of the second dose of vaccine in Patuakhali due to the closure of corona vaccination program. Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Jahangir Alam Shipon confirmed that the operation was stopped due to depletion of vaccines.
Meanwhile, many people have been seen returning to the vaccination booths as vaccinations have been stopped without any announcement. Corona vaccination activities started from February 8 in a total of 32 booths in different health centers of eight upazilas including 6 booths of Patuakhali Medical College Hospital.
According to the Civil Surgeon’s Office, a total of 56,562 people have so far registered for vaccination in the district. As of Sunday, 45,536 people had received the first dose of the vaccine. In other words, a total of 13,045 of the registered people have been deprived of the first dose of vaccine. As of Sunday (May 23), there were 45,538 1st dose vaccine recipients, 29,208 males and 16,329 females. As of Sunday, 30,624 people had received the second dose of the vaccine. Of which 20483 are males and 10371 are females. In other words, a total of 14613 people who received the first dose of vaccine are not able to get the second dose of vaccine at present.
Patuakhali Civil Surgeon Md. Jahangir Alam Shipon said that the amount of corona vaccine allotted in Patuakhali district has been exhausted. Due to which the corona vaccination activities in the district have been suspended from Sunday (May 23). However, once the allocation is received, vaccination will start again.
