A team of researchers recently identified serious security flaws in Android Jelly Bean 4.3 and older versions. The bug was found in the ‘Web View’ section of the operating system, which could be used by hackers to hijack other people’s smartphones. Currently, about 80 percent (close to 100 million) Android devices are using Android 4.3 or older software version. But Google says the company will not provide any security updates for older versions of Android in the wake of the bug.

However, Google has given some arguments in favor of their position. Adrian Ludwig, an official at the company SaidUpdating WebKit to the Android 4.3 (and earlier) operating system, which is more than two years old, now requires a lot of changes, which is quite time consuming and could lead to more new problems. So Google does not want to update the error. Besides, people are now gradually upgrading their devices to the new Android version. So the risk is also reduced.

He said that this problem of Android can be avoided by adopting some strategies. Use a web browser that does not use Web View and receives updates. Such as Chrome, which can be used on Android 4.0, or Firefox, which is also useful for Android 2.3. If weak software is not used then cyber attackers will not be able to do any harm.

However, many Android users do not know about other browsers or have no idea how to run them. This is a problem for them.
