Dr. Nusrat Jahan Vision:

Proper hygiene is the main way to protect yourself from Novel Coronavirus infection. And the most important of these hygiene rules is to wash your hands frequently with soap and water. If soapy water is not available near the hands, the hands should be cleaned with alcohol based sanitizer. However, frequent use of soapy water and hand sanitizer can lead to various skin problems. Therefore, in addition to protecting yourself from coronavirus, you also need to take care of your skin.

In this case, it is important to keep in mind some things.

First, it is important to wipe your hands thoroughly after repeated hand washing. Otherwise, there is a possibility of fungal infection due to accumulation of water in the folds of the fingers. In particular, those who are already suffering from a variety of fungal diseases or who have a low immune system need to be extra careful.

Second, repeated hand washing can result in rough or reddish rashes on many parts of the skin. At one stage there may be itching and excessive itching may result in water, blood or sticky juice coming out of it. Such problems can occur in people whose skin is overly sensitive. In these cases, after repeated hand washing, moisturizing ingredients should be given to the skin. It is better to choose some ingredients when using cosmetics. Such as emollient, white petroleum, liquid paraffin, lactic acid, olive oil, coconut oil etc.

In addition, various skin problems occur due to various reasons. Consult a doctor in these cases. If necessary, seek telemedicine services from a physician.
