Ride sharing service was launched in Bangladesh three years ago. This time after three years, the government decided to give licenses to the companies. The BRTA said the licensing process would begin in the next couple of days. Ride-sharing companies need to be licensed by the government. Then they will register their companies and submit the details of the riders in their own network. In this case, the rider does not have to go through the hassle of registration.
A number of changes have been made to the ride-sharing policy for this new licensing process. According to the previous policy, 17 companies applied for licenses but none got them. Because they could not meet the conditions of the policy. However, this time the policy has been relaxed and made company friendly.
It is hoped that this licensing process will make it easier for the government to crack down on ride-sharing offenses, with the rider having all the information. At the same time the quality of service is expected to improve.
