Citibank analyst Glenn Young speculates that the tablet device may lose market share to lightweight Windows 8-powered tablets and ultrabooks this year due to the lack of innovative features in the Apple iPad. He warned that Apple should make a flagship tablet faster, narrower and lighter, otherwise it would be difficult to survive in the competition of mobile computing.

A few days later, Apple may release another version of the iPad mini with a retina display and faster processor. At the same time, the lightweight iPad Five may come with a new processor – but these features alone are not enough to compete.

Mr Glenn said that despite the innovative limitations of tablet computers in 2H13 (second half 2013), it is now a growing process in the case of PCs. Gadgets like Touch Technology, Ultrathin All-Day Notebook etc. are becoming more attractive day by day in terms of price and quality.

Intel’s new processor series Haswell will hit the market in June this year. 22 nanometer process, 3D Trigate and Ivy Bridge chip technology, these processing parts will provide good performance with low power consumption, which is essential for mobile computing.

Other Windows device makers, including HP and Samsung, have launched several new Ultrabooks, tablets and notebooks based on the new Windows Eight. At the same time, Microsoft itself has entered the tablet-notebook market with their Surface brand. Now just waiting to see how Apple alone handles so many competitors.
