A recent survey found that nearly two percent of Facebook users are logging out of the site for several weeks at a time. Although not completely abandoned, the social networking platform temporarily stays away from Facebook as part of an awareness of personal privacy, ranging from excessive gossip or irrelevant discussions and time wasting.
That is why the popularity of the company has not decreased. Every day countless new users, groups, pages, etc. are being added to the site.
A survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, a US think tank, found that about 4 percent of users blamed the risk of privacy breaches for staying away from Facebook. On the other hand, 1 percent said they do not like to share life through Facebook. And 2 percent said they prefer to meet face-to-face on Facebook.
Annoying comments, unnecessary status updates, and frequent follow-up by the site are some of the most common reasons users have expressed dislike for Facebook at Pew Research.
Of course, a large proportion, about 92 percent, say they still use Facebook, and it remains as important to them as it was a year ago.
Less than 3 percent have reduced their time spent with the Facebook site because they believe it is not very useful. One in 10 people say they browse Facebook for a long time, with women being the majority. The survey, conducted last December on 1,006 U.S. citizens, found that they were all 18 years of age or older.
