Last year, a senior Facebook official (CFO) himself admitted that teenagers were becoming disinterested in the service. And immediately after this comment, the stock-price of Facebook in the share market decreased.
However, at present, Facebook has not released any official figure on the total number of teenage users on the site or how much it has decreased.
Another recent study found that teens are more likely to leave Facebook because of a lack of public sharing and privacy. Some Facebookers post pictures of their girlfriends / boyfriends, giving status to trivial matters – which is not what teenagers like, writes Istrategy.
Some people (children) have blocked their Facebook IDs to avoid the eyes of parents who use Facebook a lot.
According to the same survey, with the exception of Facebook, young people are more inclined towards services like Twitter, Snapchat etc. where they can share more personal information.
The study also looked at the online activities of teenagers. It has been found that teenagers prefer to share their own pictures and other personal information such as phone numbers, emails, etc. on social networking sites! Even though they still have a Facebook ID, they spend very little time on it.
Do you go to school / college? How do you feel about using Facebook?
