aljazeera-logoQatar-based media and television giant Al Jazeera has been embroiled in a dispute with US phone service provider AT&T since launching its English cable news channel in the United States. The carrier removed the station from their “U-Verse” service just hours before the news channel AJA or Al Jazeera America went on-air last Tuesday. As a result, 5 million AT&T subscribers are unable to access Al Jazeera America’s program. This case is now against AT&T Going to court Al Jazeera.

AT&T has cut off access to Al Jazeera in several other conservative states in the United States, including Texas, which has a significant U-Versus subscriber base, the TV channel said.

News and various video / audio tapes published on Al Jazeera during the Iraq war have given rise to some “anti-American” perceptions of the channel.

However, the phone company claims that Al Jazeera’s contract with AT&T for channel broadcasting could not be continued due to violation of certain conditions of the TV network.

According to Pay TV, Al Jazeera America will be seen in about 40 million homes in the United States.

Al Jazeera bought the “Current TV” network of former US Vice President Al Gore and launched an American version in January. The Qatari state-owned media group spent 500 million to buy Current TV.
