Apple Corps, the world’s leading smartphone maker, is expected to impose a government ban on the use of the “iPhone” as the name of its popular mobile device. News agency Reuters quoted a source as saying that next week the Brazilian Institute of Intellectual Property would give a local electronics company the exclusive right to use the “iPhone” name. The Brazilian company filed a trademark application for the term “iPhone” in 2000 and was granted patent in 2006.

Apple’s recent request to grant the iPhone trademark rights only to a federal company will address the issue of ensuring the trademark’s “exclusivity”.

IGB Electronics, formerly known as Gradient Electronics, is a Brazilian company that says it has the right to use the “iPhone” trademark until 2017. Apparently, Apple has put its hand in the snake’s hole to dig the earthworm. Because their position is at greater risk.

Last December, IGB launched a new Android smartphone series called “iPhone”; At first people were surprised to hear the news of “Android powered iPhone”, but after knowing the whole incident, the matter became clear.

There are now two roads open to Apple. One, to fight the IGB in court and two, to buy trademarks at the expense of money. Apparently, the first way seems difficult, because according to the information received, the trademark application was filed by IGB in 2000, 6 years after the Apple iPhone came on the market. In this case, the US company led by Tim Cook may consider the second way, namely to buy the trademark.

Apple bought the iPhone trademark rights in a similar situation in China in the middle of last year for ড 60 million from a company called Preview.

Meanwhile, positive indications have been received from the IGB to sit down for any kind of discussion. Now it remains to be seen how much Apple is willing to spend in a potential market like Brazil. Stay tuned for the latest updates!

Do you think Apple will go to court? Or come to an agreement through negotiations?
