Bangladesh in the e-passport era – Fulcrumy

The much awaited electronic passport (e-passport) is about to be launched. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal gave details about e-passport and automatic border control management at a press conference at the Secretariat on Sunday (January 19th).

It is learned that initially e-passports will be distributed from Agargaon, Jatrabari and Uttara passport offices and later e-passports will be distributed in phases everywhere.

All you need is an e-passport

The e-passport application form has to be filled in accordance with National Identity Card (NID) or Birth Registration Certificate (BRC). Juvenile applicants (under 18 years of age) who do not have National Identity Card (NID) must specify the National Identity Card (NID) number of their parents.

For applicants in Bangladesh, the 48-page 5-year general fee is Rs. 3,500, emergency fee is Rs. 5,500 and urgent fee is Rs.

In addition, for applicants in Bangladesh, the five-year general fee of 64 pages is Rs. 5500, the emergency fee is Rs. 7500 and the urgent fee is Rs.

In case of new passport, 3 days in case of emergency, 7 days in case of emergency and 21 days in case of general passport application will be available.

However, in case of re-issuance of old or expired passport, urgent passport will be issued within 2 days, emergency passport within 3 days and ordinary passport within 7 days.
