Blog is an acronym for ‘Web Log’. It is like a diary (website) where people share their experiences, opinions, analysis etc. with others. Blogs can be called digital diaries. The difference between a blog and a normal paper diary is that blogs are online based and their content is open to everyone.

There are several online platforms for blogging, such as Google’s Blogger (www.blogger.com) (formerly Blogspot), Automatic Inc.’s WordPress (wordpress.com), Ghost (https://ghost.org) and more. Some organizations themselves develop blogging platforms and create blog sites. Anyone can open a blog for free on Blogger and WordPress.com. However, the name of the service provider is also included in the website address of the free blog. For example, if you open a free blog called ‘example’ on WordPress.com, the site address will be ‘www.example.wordpress.com’.

On the other hand, if you buy a domain and hosting and open a blog, you can open a blog directly at the address ‘www.example.com’. In this case, your desired domain name must be available. Because, if someone else has opened a blog with the same name before you, then you will not get that domain name. In that case you have to choose another domain name or ending (.com, .net etc.).
