In an interview with the Wall Street Journal in early 2015, Cyanogen CEO McMaster commented that they were going to take control of Android from Google. Cyanogen Inc. is the company that develops a customized variant of the Android operating system ‘Cyanogen Mod’ OS.

But taking over the dominance of Android from Google is not an easy task at all. The official app download portal for Android devices is Google’s ‘Play Store’ which is relatively secure from third party app download sites like Getzar, Mobile 9 etc.

Official Android Google provides regular software updates for the operating system. Customers have complained of delays in this update cycle, but in times of danger (for urgent security updates), Google is the one to rely on.

But as a condition of taking advantage of this, phone manufacturers install certain Google apps on their devices and send them. Now the problem is, some users do not like this obligation.

Take China, for example. Google’s operations in China have been stalled for almost five years. The web giant could not operate on its own because of the Chinese government’s Internet censorship. And with China’s local search engine, email service, and social network, Google didn’t seem to miss much.

And that’s why the demand for Google-less Android devices is growing in China’s huge smartphone market. The ‘MUI’ flavor of Android made by Xiaomi is also quite popular now. Cyanogen is targeting these markets.

The idea has raised more than 110 million over the past year and a half Collected Cyanogen. There are rumors, Microsoft is also interested in investing in CyanogenMod.

However, no matter how big the investors are, they will also want to make a profit from cyanogen. So what is the benefit of being separated from Google? But this is also a matter for consideration.

One of the big truths in front of Cyanogen is that the fans of this OST were / are fans of Google. They have recognized cyanogen from Android. It remains to be seen how well Cyanogen will be able to compete in markets where established brands such as Samsung, LG, Sony and HTC are selling Android devices.
