It has recently been reported that the social media Facebook is going to bring their own cryptocurrency or electronic currency system. As far as is known it will work just like Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.
However, the Facebook authorities have not made any official announcement in this regard.
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Facebook has recently recruited big financial firms and online merchants. Many people think that this is part of Facebook’s cryptocurrency project.
However, Facebook once said that they are exploring the possibility of blockchain or cryptocurrency. Mark Zuckerberg expressed his interest in cryptocurrency in an interview with Harvard law professor Jonathan Zitrain last February.
Facebook has even recently opened a new engineering department at their company to conduct research on cryptocurrency. The idea is that the use of blockchain on Facebook will give users more control over giving data access to various third party apps.
