Under the project, engineers are now working to build some drones that will be powered by solar energy and will provide internet connection to the land floating in the sky.
As you may know from regular visits to our blog, last year Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg met with some of the world’s largest technology companies in a bid to bring Internet connectivity to remote areas. He announced to work together. And now, he’s got an idea of how to do it.
Along with Facebook in the Internet.org project, there are also technology companies like Nokia, Ericsson, Qualcomm, Samsung etc.
These drones under construction will fly at an altitude of 20,000 meters (75,000 feet) above the ground. These will be at a much better altitude than commercial aircraft, so there will be no risk of collisions. There is less chance of adverse weather conditions.
Facebook is enlisting the help of experts from NASA and other related organizations to make this sophisticated drone.
