Suppose you take a picture on your iPhone and you need a MacBook to edit that picture. In this case, you can open the image from mobile to laptop with just one click without any cable hassle or using any kind of separate software. This is how Apple’s AirDrop feature works.
Many users on Android wanted such a feature. Hopefully, Google is working on a file transfer method like AirDrop called “Fast Share”. It basically works on Apple’s AirDrop system. Initially this method will connect the host device to another device via Bluetooth and then transfer the file via WiFi.
Some leaked screenshots show that Google is testing the feature on a Pixel device powered by Android Q. Although Google did not say anything about it, it is expected that customers will get this feature in the final version of Android Q. However, a few days ago, Google ended their own another file sharing system Android Beam.
Android Beam originally came with Android 4.0 for data transfer with Infrared. Now it goes without saying that the use of infrared is not in the phone. Maybe the Android beam has been turned off for this new file transfer system.
Although third party apps like ShareIt can transfer files using WiFi, it takes some time to set up these apps and start the transfer. There are also allegations against these apps, ranging from pornographic advertisements to data theft. So Google’s new file sharing system is probably bringing something good for customers.
