Foundation
Misconception: Moisturizer has to be used before foundation.
Actual truth: Only use moisturizer before applying foundation if the skin is dry in nature. For normal and oily skin, first apply astringent lotion or skin tonic. Then wait a few minutes and apply the foundation.
Misconception: Using a lighter foundation than normal skin color makes you look fairer.
Actual truth: Use a foundation closer to the skin color, not lighter than normal skin color. It will easily blend the foundation with the skin. Use bronzer or blush to keep skin glowing.
Concealer
Misconception: Concealer completely removes skin blemishes.
Actual truth: Concealer helps to lighten dark spots or blemishes. The foundation works well for covering stains. Apply one shade of light foundation on the stain. No need to apply it all over the face, just apply it on the spots. After waiting a few minutes, apply normal foundation.
Powder
Misconception: A lot of compact powder should be used to reduce the oiliness during hot weather.
Actual truth: Compact powder keeps oiliness low. However, use a small amount. Wipe off excess powder with cotton. Applying extra powder can make the skin sweat. The powder on the sweat will look white.
Misconception: Translucent powder or baby powder is good for hot skin.
Actual truth: Translucent powder is not suitable for all skin types. Use tinted powder instead. You can also use bronzing powder.
Eye makeup
Misconception: Applying foundation on the eyelids makes the makeup last longer.
Actual truth: The upper eyelids are thin and soft. If you use foundation, the skin on the upper part of the eyelids may get wrinkled.
Misconception: Eyeliner is applied from the inner corner of the eye to make it look bigger.
Actual truth: Do not apply eyeliner from the inner corner of the eye. May cause infection. Apply eyeliner on the upper part of the eyelid and on the lower part of the eyelid. It will also make the eyes look better and bigger.
Lip makeup
Misconception: Pastel or light lipstick should be used during hot weather.
Actual truth: Pastel shade lipstick creates a natural effect when heated, but bright colors are also good. If the skin color is pressed, you can use bright colored lipstick.
Misconception: Lips look bigger when outlined outside the natural lip line.
Actual truth: The help of an expert makeup artist is needed to outline outside the natural lipline. If you want to make your lips look bigger or swollen, use light and glossy lip color. You can also use only lip gloss. Avoid dark colors if the lips are thin.
