This offline mode of Gmail will only work on computers with Google Chrome browser. So if you are using any other browser, you must first install Google Chrome to use this offline feature.
So, login to Gmail and click on the gear icon at the top right. Enter the settings page from the menu. Now go to the Offline tab on the far right of the header section of the settings page. From there, you can customize the offline mode by pressing the Save Changes button below and the offline mode will be turned on.

Since messages and attachments will be downloaded to your PC’s hard drive, it would be advisable to store email for a maximum of one week if you want to save storage.
Here you will also find an option related to security. If you log out of your account, you also have the power to decide whether it will delete or leave the downloaded data on your PC.
