Google, the world’s most widely used search engine, has developed a system that influences advertisers so that businesses can buy certain keywords for a fee. Then, under certain conditions, the search results containing the keyword will show the link of the client site at a specific place on the webpage.
According to eBay’s report, brands that buy keywords under their own names do not get much significant results compared to the usual search listings. The report says that the service does not play a role in the sale of products as expected.
In that 25-page report, researchers observed that users generally clicked more on free search results than on ads. In this case, the reputation of the company or website works. As a result, keyword advertising may not do much good.
Ebay’s research paper claims that spending money behind “cell phones” or similar non-brand keywords is more pointless.
