Huawei finally unveiled their mysterious operating system. It’s not Arc OS and the biggest thing is that it’s not coming for any mobile device right now. Instead, their new OS, called Harmony OS, will only run on smart TVs and various wearable smart devices for the time being. And yes, the English form of the word hongmeng is harmony.

Huawei has been developing its own alternative operating system for Android for the last 6 years. However, the rumor has been circulating since two months ago when Huawei was blacklisted in the United States. In the wake of this, when Google stopped giving Huawei the opportunity to use Android, it was heard that Huawei will use the mysterious operating system developed by them on their mobile called Hongmeng.

However, with the solution to the problem with Google, Huawei said that for the time being they are not thinking of bringing any new OS for their mobile. For this reason, many thought that the buzz of Hongmeng OS was actually a business stunt by Huawei, which may have been created by Huawei itself to put pressure on Google.

But yesterday Huawei sat down at their developer conference with the announcement of a really new operating system. Although they have not shown any prototypes so far, they have shown the details of this new OS through slides. It’s actually a microcornel based operating system like Google’s Fuchsia OS.

Although it is not entirely Linux based, it uses some components of the Linux kernel. The operating system will use Huawei’s own arc compiler, so its performance will be much better than Android.

Periodically Huawei will provide Integrated Development Environment or IDE for developers to create apps for this operating system. Developers can write code for it using C ++, Java or Kotlin.

For now, the operating system will run on their smart TV. The operating system will be installed on Huawei’s Honor Vision TV, which is coming to the market in the future. By 2020, they will start using this operating system in smart wearable devices. For now, however, Huawei has no plans to use this operating system for smartphones. Rather they are determined to use Android e as long as possible.

Another thing that has been heard before is that Android app can be installed in this new OS of Huawei. In fact, this rumor did not come true. Instead, Huawei said that in order to make the Android app run on this OS, the developers have to make some changes in the code of the app. However, Huawei will provide all kinds of assistance to the developers in this work.
