In the earlier part of this month, the Kirin 9006C was identified within the China-exclusive Qingyun L540 laptop, demonstrating the accuracy of these reports. Now, the upcoming Nova 12 Pro smartphone will feature the Huawei Kirin 8000.
The indications are clear that Huawei is diversifying its chipset offerings. The introduction of the Kirin 9006C in the Qingyun L540 laptop this month emphasizes that the company is moving beyond the confines of the Kirin 9000S. Now, there’s emerging information about another Kirin chipset, the Kirin 8000, which is set to debut in the soon-to-be-unveiled Nova 12 Pro smartphone. The specifications reveal that the SoC will power a display with a resolution of 2776 x 1224 pixels, positioning it as a capable mid-range chipset.
Despite these revelations, many details about the Huawei Kirin 8000 remain undisclosed. The shared specification picture doesn’t provide insight into the specific CPU cluster of the chipset, and details about the fabrication process (7 nm or 5 nm) are currently unknown. Considering the Kirin 9006C’s recent release as a 5 nm chipset, it’s plausible that the Kirin 8000 could follow the same manufacturing process. Even so, tempered expectations are advised regarding its speed compared to competitors.
