The government’s Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) says the risk of contracting Kovid-19 is two and a half times higher if the mask is not used properly.
This is according to a study conducted by trainees of the Field Epidemiology Training (FETP, B) program conducted by IEDCR in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta (US CDC).
According to the IEDCR, a study was conducted from April 1 to 20 to determine the cause of the current outbreak of Covid-19 in the country.
The study interviewed 146 Covid-19 positive patients and 245 healthy (Covid-19 negative) participants in the country. The probable causes of Covid-19 infection were reviewed in the 14 days prior to the onset of symptoms in asymptomatic patients and the day before the collection of asymptomatic samples.
Analyzing the results, the IEDCR added that those who never use a mask outside the home are 100 percent infected, and as the use of masks increases, so does the risk of Kovid-19 infection.
In order to reduce the risk of Covid-19A infection, proper use of masks as well as other hygiene rules (such as avoiding unnecessary travel, staying away from public gatherings, keeping physical distance from others and regular hand washing etc.) are essential.
