Intel is auctioning eight and a half thousand networking patents

No one disagrees with Intel’s reign in the world of computer processors. Not only computer processing chips, but also various types of wireless networking chips, including modems. Although they are not directly involved in the world of mobile communication or cellular networking, they still have some basic patents for 3G, 4G and 5G technologies.

But now it is being heard that they are going to auction off 7500 patents from their wireless networking patents. They even announced the closure of their cellular modem business a few days ago.

According to the IAM, almost all of the patents they have auctioned are for cellular communications. Most of them are with 3G, 4G and 5G technology. It is also learned that even if they decide to sell all the patents of the third and fourth generation networks, they will retain some of the intellectual property of the fifth generation network. Maybe in the future 5G era they want to show a little bit of authority.

Earlier, it was reported that Intel was going to sell its Germany-based cellular modem business to Apple. However, this time the auction is completely different from the change of ownership of their German unit. It may be that Intel is going to make two agreements with the same buyer. But whether that buyer is Apple or someone else will tell in time.

Apple has already started making cellular modems for their iPhones. As far as is known, they will be ready by 2025. Earlier, Apple had sought help from Qualcomm for modem chips.
