Processor maker Intel has decided to launch an Internet-based television service. The company is set to enter the entertainment industry after seeing a steady decline in the business of making chips for computers. In addition to broadcasting the program live on their online TV channel, they will also be able to enjoy the desired program at any time. If Intel’s plan to launch a television channel with these features is successful, the company is expected to surpass Apple, Amazon and Netflix.
Hundreds of Intel executives are already experimenting with the service in their homes and offices. Special TV sets will also be sold under this project.
Intel, which has less experience in the entertainment market, is currently negotiating with various content providers. When the processor maker enters the TV market, it will be in direct competition with a large group of cable TV service providers.
Intel says it will focus on quality service rather than content market competition. Cable operators will have the option of purchasing a smaller range of content, which will add a different dimension to their competition. Their set-top-box devices will have a built-in camera so that users can play / watch broadcasts as they please.
But even before Intel, many big companies have invested billions of dollars in the entertainment market. It remains to be seen how they will gain the trust of their customers as brand new.
