Intel launches ‘Edison’ SD card-sized computer

intel edisionIntel, the world-renowned computer chip maker, is now showcasing computers the size of SD cards at CES Has done. The company’s CEO, Brian Janis, called it a “Pentium-quality personal computer.” The device looks like a camera’s SD memory card.

It has dual core quark SOC processor, Linux operating system, built-in WiFi, Bluetooth connectivity etc. Edison has its own App Store and Wolfram created by Intel!

The company has shown the concept of ‘Nursery 2.0’ as the application of this small computer of Intel. It shows a small child lying wrapped in kantha cloth, with the Edison-powered sensor displaying information about the temperature and humidity inside the child’s parent’s coffee-mug display. According to the censor’s report, a green smile appears on the mug as long as the baby is comfortable. But whenever the baby starts crying or the temperature / humidity inside the clothes is disturbed, the red light on the mug comes on.

The price of the device and the international release date are not known yet, but I hope to give an update if it is known.
