While their Surface lineup is new, they have shown some excellent hybrid devices over the years. This time they seemed to go a few steps further. In addition to the upgraded versions of regular Surface laptops and Surface Pro tabs, the highlight of this year’s event was the foldable Surface tab with their dual display. These are a lot like the foldable phones of recent times, but the difference is that they do not open on the inside but open on the outside. At the same time, their bezels are quite large.
One of their dual display foldable devices is the Surface Neo and the other is the Surface Duo. Surface Neo is large in size and like a tab that will run on their Windows 10 X operating system. Windows 10X is their newly announced OS that is primarily designed specifically for dual display devices.
Their Surface Duo, on the other hand, is basically a pocket-sized device that will work like a phone. It has two 5.5-inch displays that can be folded to form a phone. The funny and surprising thing is that it will run on the Android operating system made by Google. While this may seem unbelievable to many, it is true. In order to compete with this Android, they once bought Nokia with their Windows Phone, but now it is a dead project. So in the end, they have now turned to Android to make themselves known in the world of portable devices.
However, these hybrid devices of smartphones and tablets have already created hype in the tech world. Maybe this new Surface lineup will be the Redmond Giant’s turning point in the hardware world.
