My experience with Xiaomi smartphones

The Chinese electronics company Xiaomi is known as the ‘Apple of China’. Just as Apple is a popular technology company around the world, so is Xiaomi in China. Xiaomi’s smartphone is also available in Bangladesh. At a relatively affordable price, the Xiaomi phone offers a number of attractive features. But how is the Xiaomi smartphone?

A company makes many devices. It is not possible for one person to use all of them. The reviews we see online are usually written in a few hours / days using a review. But a review of a device in this short time leaves a lot of things unnoticed.

I have been around for 3 months Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 I have been using Android smartphone. In this post I am sharing with you my experience of using it.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is in the phone

  • 5.5 inch 1080p Full HD display
  • Fingerprint sensor (unlocked in 0.3 seconds)
  • 13 megapixel rear camera, 5 megapixel front camera
  • 4000 mAh battery
  • Helio X10 MediaTek flagship processor
  • 2 GB RAM in 16 GB storage version, 3 GB RAM in 32 GB storage version
  • Dual SIM, Forge support in both SIMs
  • Metal body, weighing 164 grams
  • MIUI 8 operating system based on Android 5 Lollipop

My Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Now I am writing about my experience about the phone.

External structure and casing

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a metal body. There is no reason why you should not like the first time you see the phone. It is available in gold, silver and black casing. I have no complaints about build quality at the moment.

Sensor

The phone has most of the standard sensors. On the back of the device you will find an extra fingerprint sensor just below the camera. That means you can unlock the phone with your fingerprint. The sensor can unlock the phone in one third of a second. So far, the fingerprint is working well. I have no complaints about it.

The camera

Before running this phone I ran a Nokia and a Samsung phone with 8 megapixel camera. Of the three phones, Nokia’s camera is the one I like best. Samsung is also good. However, the camera of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is average to me. Its 13 megapixel camera didn’t feel special to me. But the work is going on. I am not unhappy with this camera and I am not happy about it. Just going. Of course the front camera is quite good.

Screen

The part of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 phone that I like best is its display. This nice 5.5 inch screen will be loved by anyone at first sight.

The screen is extremely touch sensitive, works fast. Brightness, contrast, everything is amazing in one word.

Network

No problem with network yet. Sounds good.

Audio and music

Xiaomi did not provide any earphones with the Redmi Note 3. This is a very surprising thing. Nowadays, audio accessories (earphones) are provided along with phones priced at Rs 1,000. Since it can make low-cost smartphones, Xiaomi could offer at least an average quality headphone with it. The call quality and music quality of this phone is good. Although I don’t listen to music, the sound quality of the ringtone suggests that the sound of a good recorded audio and video file will be good. The FM radio runs without earphones, the sound quality is excellent. Some of Shaomi’s Piston brand earphones / headphones are available at prices ranging from Rs. 800 to Rs. 1000+. If you buy them, you can enjoy the audio quite well.

Battery

The battery backup of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 phone is amazing. I have no complaints about the battery. Even if you keep the data on all the time and browse for three-four hours, one day you will laugh and play. With the help of the phone’s charger, it takes one and a half to two hours to fully charge the battery.

Operating system

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 smartphone uses Xiaomi’s own MIUI based on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. Its user interface is excellent. I am very satisfied with the design.

But the software has some problems which is enough to reduce the attractiveness of the phone.

Complications: MIUI includes Shaomi’s own security app. If you do not give ‘auto start’ permission to certain apps through that app, then those apps will not work properly. It is for security reasons but it is also the cause of big problems. For example, if you don’t give the Gmail app auto-start permission, it won’t synchronize when a new email arrives after the phone is turned on. As a result, you will not know the news of new emails until you open the Gmail app. Samsung Android phones do not have this kind of policy. I have used other such apps including Gmail on Samsung phones naturally.

Xiaomi Cloud: Shaomi has a variety of services that I was surprised to see. Phonebooks can be synchronized in MI Cloud. You can keep pictures, videos etc. in its 5 GB free cloud storage. I like these.

MIUI needs further development

Shaomi’s software team doesn’t seem to have gone deep into some of MIUI’s problems. I had some problems after buying the phone. After getting MIUI software updates and installing them, I got some solutions. These were serious problems.

Bluetooth problem: The phone’s Bluetooth conflicts with some apps. For example, if you try to send a file from the Google Photos app with the help of Bluetooth, after a while Bluetooth service error occurs. This is not the case with the phone’s default photo app.

Network service error Redmi Note 3 phones were the first to receive network service error messages. Later it is removed with the help of software update of the phone. In this way the camera also hangs which is removed by the update.

PC Suite App: Remember the Nokia PC Suite / Avi Suite / Nokia Suite software? Those softwares could be installed on the computer to sync Nokia phone data, backup and software updates, etc. could be done. Xiaomi also has a similar software called MI PC Suite. But it doesn’t work properly. I use it to back up the phone to update the software. And if you want to update the software, it will not be updated due to encryption. In the beginning, if you try to take a backup while there is an update, the backup fails without notice. It seems that Xiaomi is not able to handle such an important and advanced feature as encryption. One thing to note, however, is that the Xiaomi PC Suite software is much more feature rich and has better UI than Samsung’s PC Suite {Kays / Kays3 (Kays, Kays3). Although Nokia is no longer on the market, the Nokia Suite was better in all respects than the two mentioned.

Encryption error

What I find most frustrating about the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 phone is its encryption. For the first month or so, I was unable to turn on the full device encryption feature of this phone. This was not possible due to a software bug. Encryption is possible after updating MIUI later.

But then a bigger problem arose. After full device encryption, that encryption can no longer be canceled. Google’s policy is also responsible for this. After enabling encryption on Android 5, it can no longer be decrypted directly. Encryption is turned off by factory reset the phone.

After encrypting the Redmi Note 3, the phone no longer receives software updates. When restarting the phone while updating the software, forget everything and go back to normal mode. Now I can’t turn off encryption, I can’t give set format. Because its bootloader is also locked – so rooting it is not seemingly possible. Now you have to unlock the bootloader by applying online to Shaomi and then open the encryption by flashing the set. Then you have to set up MIUI anew and then update the OS. This is a huge problem.

Meanwhile, the encrypted MIUI 7.1.6 version of the phone’s magnetic sensor does not work properly. So there will be problems if it is not updated.

Conclusion

All in all, I like some of the features of the Xiaomi smartphone, but it is not possible to take full advantage of the phone due to software problems. Before launching this slim and beautiful phone, Xiaomi should have checked to see if its features work properly.

Do you use Xiaomi phones? How was your experience?
