Vitamin D enhances immunity. As a result, it protects the human body from the transmission of any disease. Lack of this vitamin causes multiple diseases in the body. New information has emerged in the study to meet the deficiency of this essential vitamin.

A new study shows that 25-hydroxyvitamin D-3 is an effective treatment for vitamin D deficiency in certain patients. Millions of people worldwide have fat malabsorption syndrome, some of whom have had gastric bypass surgery and some of whom are overweight. According to the Journal of Clinical Nutrition, such patients have difficulty absorbing vitamin D, and both types of patients have an increased risk of vitamin D deficiency. As a result, there is a strong possibility of osteoporosis and osteomalacia.

Vitamin D is derived from intestinal absorption, and skin synthesis is absorbed into body fat. According to researchers, about one-third of adults are obese and need higher doses of vitamin D in their body.

Michael F. Holick, a professor of medicine, physiology, biophysics and molecular medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine, saidIf more, 25-hydroxyvitamin D-3 is effective in raising and maintaining blood levels.

A healthy adult, fat malabsorption syndrome, has a water-soluble type of vitamin D-3, known as 25-hydroxyvitamin D-3, to increase the amount of vitamin D in the human body. The comparison was made between such an adult and an overweight adult. Studies have shown that only 36 percent of patients with fat malabsorption syndrome take vitamin D compared to healthy adults. The same is true of gastric bypass surgery. When the same person is given 25-hydroxyvitamin D-3, a healthy person can take vitamin D just as a patient with fat malabsorption syndrome can. As a result, vitamin D increases in both the bodies. Similarly, healthy adults with obese individuals have been measured.

That’s why Holick says, “The use of 25-hydroxyvitamin D-3 can be an innovative way to treat fat malabsorption syndrome and vitamin D deficiency in overweight adult patients.”
