Mobile phone subscribers in Bangladesh will have the opportunity to provide information via SMS till November 15 for re-registration of SIMs purchased before 2012.

Bdnews24.com cites sources in a press release of Bangladesh Postal and Telecommunication Department Reporting That, the notification said, Unlike the SIMs purchased before 2012, mobile operators are sending SMS to customers asking for different information, which will continue till November 15. If the SIM is not registered properly within the stipulated time, the SIM will be discontinued which will be considered for subsequent activation if the subsequent ‘necessary and appropriate’ documents can be shown.

Users under the age of 18 need to register their SIM card in the name of their parents. SIMs cannot be sold to anyone in this age group. This is according to the press release of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications Bdnews24.com.

After sending the information in SMS for re-registration, if all is well, the customer will receive confirmation SMS. It will say ‘Your request has been accepted, Thank you for the information’. Those whose SIMs will not be re-registered through SMS system will have to register their SIMs through Biometrics system which will be available at the Customer Care Centers of mobile operators.
