led tubeElectronics company Philips has announced that it has developed the world’s least light bulb. According to the demands of the organization In the laboratory Built-in new type of tube LED lamp is able to provide equal light using half the power compared to the common option. These can significantly reduce the cost of lighting in homes, offices and other places. BBC Online news.

According to the media, more than 19 percent of the world’s total electricity consumption is used for lighting.

This Philips experimental LED tube light produces 200 lumens of light per watt. Ordinary strip lights, on the other hand, can give 100 lumens / watt and in the case of bulbs this amount is even less – only 15 lumens / watts.

The lifespan of an LED is about 100,000 hours!

Philips hopes their new discovery will replace the widely used fluorescent tube lights in industrial plants and offices, which occupy more than half of all lighting in the world. The company expects to be able to market the product by 2015.

The full form of LED is light emitting diode which uses much less power than commonly used bulbs. They consume less energy due to warming. LEDs are more commonly used as indicators in electronic devices. At first only red light emitting LEDs were found but later other colors were also made available in it.

The durability of LED lights is a lot. These can provide light for up to 100,000 hours. But in the case of ordinary light bulbs and CFLs this period is 1000 and 15000 hours respectively. LEDs are 90 percent more energy efficient than yellow light (traditional bulbs). So even though the initial setup cost is a bit high, many people prefer these because of the low electricity bill.
