Private operator Robi Axiata Limited has launched a third party advertising service on mobile phones in Bangladesh. Using this new service called “mADmart”, advertisers will be able to display ads digitally on the phones of Robi Network customers. It will advertise through SMS, MMS, WAP, USSD etc.

Robi CSO (Chief Strategy Officer) Yushishige Hasegawa recently inaugurated the service at a ceremony at the company’s corporate office.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yushishige Hasegawa said, “For the first time in Bangladesh, steps have been taken to provide advertisements in accordance with the rules of telecommunication regulation and technical standards. I am sure that our customers will benefit from this creative initiative and this will create opportunities for the implementation of new ideas in the telecommunication industry of this country. ” He added, “Robi believes in empowering people and is constantly striving to achieve this by providing new, creative products and services; Mobile advertising is part of the process. ”

Robi authorities say the initiative will help small and medium-sized enterprises reach consumers with information about their services and products.

With the launch of ads sent from mADmart, Robi Connection users will be able to know the opportunities, services and other information of different organizations for free. However, by turning on the do-not-disturb or DND feature, these ads can be stopped on his mobile. Then again there is an option to turn it on at any time via an SMS.

In the near future, Robi will provide the facility to select a specific field from the advertisements of Entertainment, Economics, Health, Education, Travel, Automobiles, etc. according to the customer’s choice.

For the first time?

Although some of the features of Robi MEdmart may seem new, the main thing that is noticeable is that third party advertising on mobile phones was introduced in Bangladesh even before. Various content providers including welcome tunes, ringtones, videos, songs have been doing marketing activities through SMS, service messages etc. for a long time. As you may have noticed, mobile phones sometimes receive calls from certain numbers (for example, Grameenphone 2560) and information about the services of different companies is played in the system records. These calls usually last about a minute and are disconnected automatically.
