Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam, a world-renowned physicist and scientist from Bangladesh, breathed his last at the Metropolitan Hospital in Chittagong on Saturday night, March 17, 2013 (Inna Lillahi… Raziun); He was 84 years old at the time of his death. Mr. Nazrul Islam was a distinguished physicist, physicist, mathematician, cosmologist, astronomer and Professor Emeritus of the University of Chittagong. He started receiving treatment at the hospital a few days ago due to a lung infection and a heart condition.
Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam was born on 24 February 1939 in Jhenaidah. He started his school life in Calcutta after being transferred to Calcutta for his father’s work. After that he returned to the country and took the exam for admission in Chittagong Collegiate School. For this extraordinary achievement, the school authorities admitted him directly to the sixth class with “double promotion”.
Mr. Nazrul Islam was quite skilled in mathematics. He received his PhD in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics from Cambridge University in 1984. Note that only Jamal Nazrul Islam studied mathematics at Higher Senior Cambridge. Many people did not want to take it because it was difficult.
In 1973, Mr. Nazrul Islam was working as a Doctoral-North Fellow at the University of Maryland, USA. After working in research and education in various renowned educational institutions of the world, this great patriot returned to Bangladesh in 1974 and joined Chittagong University as a Professor in the Department of Mathematics.

- The Ultimate Fate of the Universe (1973)
- Classical General Relativity (1974)
- Rotating Fields in General Relativity (1985)
- An Introduction to Mathematical Cosmology (1992)
- Krishna Bibar – Published by Bangla Academy.
- Mother Tongue and Science Practice and Other Articles – Rahat-Siraj Publications

- Sky and Telescope – Cambridge University Press. Translated into Spanish
- The Far Future of the Universe – Published in Endeavor
Remember, on May 5, 2001, a rumor spread around the world that the earth would be destroyed. It also spread in Bangladesh which was proved wrong by Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam through mathematical interpretation.
We pay our respects to this great scientist and wish him eternal peace.
