Initially this service is only available on iOS, Android and Mac computers Skype Premium Will be available to customers as part of it. However, the first 20 messages can be sent for free, after which you will have the option to continue the feature for 4.99 per month. It is currently being used in the United States and the United Kingdom. The service will be rolled out to other countries in the future.
The video messaging feature will also be available on Windows PCs and mobile devices by April. However, Windows OS subscribers will not be able to send video clips to anyone right now, but will be able to view video messages from other users.
This new service allows you to capture videos on front and rear cameras in gadgets powered by Android and iOS. Mac users will also have the option to download the video of the message in MP4 format. It does not compete with Twitter’s popular app “Vine” as it lacks video looping and public sharing. The microblogging site Twitter recently shared a 6-second looping video clip that would serve as a good alternative to animated GIF images.
Software and gadget maker Microsoft bought Skype in 2011 and will be shutting down MSN or Windows Live Messenger in the near future to make the platform more popular.
