All these regions were under beautiful forests one and a half hundred years ago. The donations of the Dhali family have contributed to the development of the region.

As I was passing by the Mahamaya temple, I could not help but think of the large houses on either side of the road, where a picture of the ancient rural society of Bengal was still waiting for us. There are fairs all over the field, this is a ten day fair and a three day event. It started with Neel Pujo, after which it ended with kirtan and various ceremonies in the name of Radha Govinda, but the fair will continue for another seven days.

The original people living here are all involved in this festival. The day before the puja, the charak tree is washed and cleaned. In it, Shivling is kept in a container filled with water, Shiva’s pata is kept, which is known as Buroshiv. A special part of puja is walking on burning embers, jumping on thorns and knives, swinging in the charakagache.
