“Set Top Box” to streaming TV maker Boxie Bought Taking Samsung. The new Israeli-based media company allows customers to record TV shows on their own servers, which can then be played from the cloud on devices such as televisions, computers, smartphones, etc. Samsung says the latest deal will further enhance their “connected device” service experience.
Boxi has previously raised ৬ 26.5 million from American and Israeli investors. The startup has sold the company’s core technology, equipment and manpower to Samsung for 30 million.
The box will be molded within a few days after the acquisition Samsung. The Galaxy Maker will turn off the cloud DVR feature of the service on July 10. Its free streaming service will also be changed. And with the help of newly purchased technology, the Korean tech giant is moving forward to make Samsung Smart TV and its other online services more popular.
