The members of the policy commission added that vaccines approved by the FDA or WHO could also come to India. Permission to import will be given in the next 1-2 days. 2 billion doses of vaccine will arrive in India by next August. This includes 75 crore covshield and 55 crore covacin doses.

It is to be noted that the center has so far given clearance to a total of 3 vaccines. Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine has been approved along with home-made Kovacin and Kovishield. The vaccine is being imported to India by Dr. Reddy’s Lab. The vaccine has been approved for emergency use in 70 countries around the world.
