In research Leading Bangladeshi scientist Maksudul Alam was also present at the press conference. He is currently working as the Principal Investigator of the Basic and Applied Research on Jute project of the Bangladesh Jute Research Institute.

Maksudul Alam, a professor of microbiology at the University of Hawaii in the United States, said: All the secrets of jute are in our hands now. ”

Knowing the secrets of the life of jute can now identify the genes responsible for the good and bad characteristics of jute and increase yields by creating new varieties.

Scientist Maksudul Alam says, Of research New varieties of jute will come to the field in the next 5 years using Findings.

Bangladesh has applied to the World Intellectual Property Organization for a patent on five research findings, in addition to the process of publishing the research results in an international journal. These are:

1. Efficacy of jute fiber

2. Enzymes responsible for various diseases

3. Lignin-reducing genes

4. Cellulose or hemicellulose reducing enzyme

5. Pectin-reducing enzymes
