Own report: Whenever danger strikes, people forget all external differences and stand by people. No matter what religion you belong to, it is as if the inner soul of a truly sensitive person saysPeople are crying, you stand by people.
Behala Gurudwara started the work of standing by that man (Gurudwara). On the eve of the rising tide of the Kovid wave in Calcutta and at the juncture of the scarcity of oxygen supply, they opened the Free Oxygen Langar for the common patient. Just show the prescription. People of any religion are welcome there. This oxygen service has just started. Huge response has started from the beginning.
Majherhat bridge collapse, amphan or lockdown – this gurudwara has been seen beside the danger in any accident. The Behala Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee and the IIHA Foundation brought together the news of this relief for the corona patients when the second wave of this corona, the cry of oxygen all around, the number of victims and the rising death toll were all rising. As a result, ‘Oxygen Langar’ was introduced at Behala Gurudwara. Oxygen is being supplied to Corona patients by setting up a makeshift facility here. This ‘anchor’ has the infrastructure to give oxygen to at least 25 people at a time. There are medical staff who are giving oxygen to the patients by checking their medical parameters. There are 5 Oxygen Portable Oxygen Concentrators in stock. The plan of this portable concentrator is to provide oxygen to the patients in their car if any patient cannot come to the anchorage on foot. They have also arranged mobile vans for patients who are in ‘home isolation’ and cannot leave the house.
Patients can go here from any area. People of any religion, caste (irrespective of caste, creed and religion) can go. This oxygen service is being provided completely free of cost to all. Already twenty to twenty-two corona patients a day come and take oxygen.
However, the Gurudwara Committee does not want to stop there, they have more plans. They will also start delivering oxygen to the patient’s home in a few days. Satnam Singh Aluwalia (secretary, Behala Gurudwara) says they also have plans to set up ‘oxygen-booths’ in different areas of Kolkata and suburbs. Their committee has already started talking to the health department about this.
Not only that, Covid-If the situation is more serious, they will also arrange a bed in the hospital. They will also talk to the state health department about this.
