Many people have complained that the balance of the account is lost as soon as the mobile data is turned on in the smartphone. Those who buy and run various small megabyte packages often lose MB balance and deduct money from the original account and face zero balance only due to unrestricted mobile data usage of the phone. However, a few strategies can easily avoid this situation. Let’s take a look at some of the most effective tips that will save your mobile data.

Turn off background application refresh

When the background apps are on, the apps keep working for a certain period of time. Of all these applications, Facebook, email, weather, etc. consume a lot more data. Follow the steps below to turn off background app refresh.

Open on iPhone: Settings> General> Background App Refresh

Open for Android: Settings> Data Usage> Restrict App Background Data (Different brands of Android phones may have different locations in this menu. In that case, find the Background Data option).

You can turn off the background data usage of all apps or any specific app if you want by going to the menus above.

Turn off app auto update

The phone’s various applications are often updated automatically. Follow the rules below to turn off auto app updates.

For iPhone: Turn off Settings> iTunes & App Stores> Use Cellular Data option.

For Android: Open Google Play Store and select Settings> General> Auto Update Apps> Auto Update Apps over Wi-Fi Only in its menu. Or you can turn off auto update from here.

Turn off Wi-Fi Assist

When Wi-Fi Assist is turned on, the phone automatically starts using your mobile data when the WiFi signal is bad. Turn off this network switching.

For iPhone: Turn off Wi-Fi Assist from Settings> Cellular Options.

In Android, go to WLAN or WiFi settings and turn off the switch between data and WLAN option. As a result, when your phone has both WiFi and mobile data connected, the phone will only use WiFi. However, if you want, you can turn off WiFi by turning off mobile data.

Control cloud storage synchronization

Specify WiFi only to use cloud storage services like Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud Drive, Google Photos etc. Otherwise, synchronizing these services using mobile data will cost a lot of mobile data.

Turn off cellular data completely after work

You can turn off mobile data after work. Turn off mobile data if you are not waiting for an urgent email or similar notification. Background apps will not be able to use the data.
