Rapyuta imageThe world of robotics is getting more and more complex. As robots move toward artificial intelligence, new problems are emerging. On the other hand, there are limitations due to mechanical capacity. What about modern robotics?

To answer these questions, European scientists have launched a web-based “robot brain”; It has an online database from which robots can deal with situations with ideas about unfamiliar content.

This online brain called “Reputa” is capable of describing new objects to a robot attached to the brain and even performing large calculations on its behalf. Reputa makers expect that this will reduce the cost of building robots and make them cheaper, as web-based cloud robotics will reduce the pressure on on-board processing.

The project is part of the “Robo Earth” initiative in Europe in 2011, which set out to establish a standard of interaction between robots and humans worldwide.

Reputa databases can help robots understand human language. It will also be able to guide driverless cars, drones and other mobile robots. Researchers at the project believe that without such an online processing center or cloud robotics system, robots will only be able to operate in a tightly controlled environment, which is bound to bring the benefits of robotics to everyday needs.

The name Reputa is derived from the Japanese film “Castle in the Sky”. In that movie it was a place where all the robots lived.
