Will Bill Gates give up his partnership with Microsoft altogether?

bill gates img 5454Bill Gates, co-founder, former CEO and outgoing chairman of software giant Microsoft, is selling shares of his own company at regular intervals. If he continues, Bill Gates will have no direct ownership of Microsoft in the next four years, in mid-2018. Reuters News.

In 1975, Mr. Gates and his friend Paul Allen Microsoft Founded which revolutionized the world of personal computing.

For the past decade or so, Bill Gates has been selling 20 million Microsoft shares owned by him almost every three months. If that continues, Gates will no longer be the sole owner of any of Microsoft’s shares after four years.

One week ago, Bill Gates sold another share. As a result, he has moved away from being the sole sole shareholder of Microsoft. Steve Ballmer is currently Redmond’s sole sole stockholder.

According to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Steve Ballmer currently owns more than 333 million Microsoft shares, while Gates owns just over 330 million. In both cases the amount is about 4 percent of the total shares.

In 1986, when Microsoft Bill Gates owned 49% of the company when it issued an IPO (i.e. entered the capital market) as a public limited company. He stepped down as CEO in 2000. And last February the company Bill Gates also resigned from the chairmanship. Satya Nadella, the current CEO of Redmond, is his technical adviser. Gates is also on Microsoft’s board of directors. Most of his time and money is spent on public welfare.
