A group of Spanish open source software users has accused Microsoft of “anti-competitive” behavior. They say that with Windows 8 OS, the company has made it extremely difficult to install alternative computer operating systems on the same PC. Six groups of about 6,000 Linux developers are complaining to the European Commission that Windows’s new “secure boot system” prevents other OS installations. But Microsoft claims that this mechanism is essentially a security measure.

Complainant Hisplinux Group To Reuters In an interview, Windows 8’s UAFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) called the secure boot system a “technological prison” for computer boot processes. They added that this has “greatly reduced the neutrality of the Windows platform than ever before.”

The 14-page complaint also states that if you want to set up another operating system on a Windows PC with a secure boot, you have to ask Microsoft for the “digital key” in advance. However, there is a risk that users will lose their freedom to operate their own computer.

However, citing security concerns, Windows developers have expressed confidence in their position, saying they are ready to answer any questions related to Microsoft.

As you may remember, earlier this month the European Commission approached Microsoft Monopoly has been fined ১ 631 million for a browser dispute. In Europe, Redmond was eventually fined for failing to allow the company to choose an alternative web browser to their Windows operating system other than Internet Explorer.
