Facebook launched animated GIF image support in May this year. Many users have since been able to post GIF animations on their personal Facebook profiles. But in the case of fanpages, the feature was only available for a very limited number of pages. Now the feature is for all pages Launched Facebook, apparently, seems to be the case, according to The Next Web.
If you are an admin of a Facebook page, if you post a link to any GIF animation in the form of status on Facebook, you will see that the animation is running. However, in the case of mobile, animation may not work in some browsers.
However, remember, any GIF file uploaded directly to Facebook will not play. If you want to run animated GIF on Facebook, you have to post the link of the GIF file uploaded on another site on the social networking site.
